About Excal Inc.
Built on Teamwork and Mutual Trust
A Full-Service Brass and Bronze Foundry in the Western United States
Excal Inc. is a modern brass and bronze sand casting foundry located in Mills, Wyoming — operating from an 85,000 sq. ft. production facility staffed by more than 50 skilled artisans. We produce castings from 1 to 2,000 lbs. across a broad range of brass, bronze, stainless steel alloys, serving demanding industrial customers across North America.
Excal believes teamwork and mutual trust — with our employees and our customers — are the cornerstones of how we operate. From first article to full program production, our goal is the same: meet your quality and delivery requirements, every time.

Our Facility
Built for Continuity and Scale
School groups, customers, and visitors have been stopping to see it for more than 30 years. For a foundry in Wyoming’s Equality State, it fits.
The facility includes an expansive cleaning room, an in-house heat treat furnace, a fully equipped pattern shop, five CNC turning centers, two CNC mills, and an in-house spectrometer — putting complete control over the casting process, from raw alloy to finished component, under one roof.
The building also has room for future expansion and enough unused acreage to double in size — a deliberate design decision that reflects our commitment to long-term growth alongside our customers.

Wyoming’s Liberty Bell
A Foundry Legacy Cast in Bronze
Walk into Excal’s lobby in Mills and you’ll find something unexpected: a 2,080-pound exact replica of the Liberty Bell — crack and all.
The story goes back to 1966, when Buckeye Brass Foundry — Excal’s predecessor company — was commissioned to cast the replica for Walter Knott’s Independence Hall project in California. Several foundries turned the job down. Buckeye took it, with one condition: they got to keep a copy for themselves.
When Buckeye’s operations moved to Mills and became Excal in 1991, founder Fred Harmon brought the bell with him. It’s been in the lobby ever since — complete with a working clapper, the same period spelling of ‘Pensylvania,’ and the inscription from Leviticus: ‘Proclaim Liberty throughout all the Land unto all the inhabitants thereof.’
How We Work
From Prototype to Full Program — Without Interruption
Excal’s process is designed around one principle: keep your supply chain moving. Our redundant molding lines and independent furnaces mean we’re not a single-point-of-failure supplier. When one line is dedicated to a high-volume program, another handles specialty builds or new prototypes — simultaneously.
Our engineering team uses in-house solidification software to support new tooling development, minimize rigging costs, and reduce first-article risk before production begins. Combined with our robust ERP platform for order management, quality control, and purchasing, customers have full visibility into their program from first order through final shipment.
A New Chapter: Foundrion Group
Excal Inc. is a member of the Foundrion Group, a network of foundries with deep expertise across non-ferrous and specialty alloy casting in North America. As one of the group’s newest members, Excal strengthens the Foundrion network’s brass and bronze capability and extends its reach across the Western U.S. — while continuing to operate with the hands-on commitment and flexibility that has defined Excal since its founding.
